Peanut Butter smoothie with Maca

Ingredients
(makes one serving)
1 banana
1/4 cp of creamy peanut butter
1 cp of plain yogurt
2 tbl of cocoa powder
1 tsp of vanilla
1 tbl of honey or sugar
1 tbp of maca

Method
Put all ingredients into the Blender and mix for 2 minutes.
Pour into glasses and decorated with chocolate shavings.

Banana smoothie with Maca

Ingredients
(makes 2-3 glasses)
2 ripe bananas
400ml milk of choice (almond, cows, soy, rice)
2 drops pure vanilla extract
2 tbsp maca powder
1 tbsp cacao powder

Method
Put all ingredients into the mixer and mix for 2 minutes.
Pour into a glass and enjoy.

Can Maca work as an antidepressant?

The Mail Online have an article about Maca that could work as an anti-depressant following the research on mice at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China.

The study was for six weeks and they found that maca would reduce levels of stress hormone cortisol decreased while levels of the happy hormone dopamine rose. Continue reading

Spinach and Avocado Maca smoothie

Ingredients
(makes 2 glasses)
300ml Apple juice
2 handfuls of baby spinach
1/2 Avocado
1 green apple unpeeled and cored
1 tbp of maca

Method
Put all ingredients into the blender and mix for 2 minutes.
Adding more apple juice to reach the desired consistency.

Berry smoothie with Maca

Ingredients
(makes 4 glasses)
450g bag frozen berries
450g pot fat-free strawberry yogurt
100ml milk
25g porridge oats
2 tsp honey (optional)
1 tbp of maca

Method
Put all ingredients into the mixer and mix for 5 minutes.
Add ice to serve cold.
